Pandara Cap – Paul Shih

Sunday, March 24th, 2013

paulshih

Paul Shih, New Zealand-based artist and creator of Bevil, the devilish broccoli character we had at NYCC 2012, just released the above image. Fans were excited to see his Pandara character on a cap, but for now, this is a one-off. Paul already has a line of tees available in his web store and a line of caps would be a great addition, as his characters lend themselves well to apparel. Learn more about the process of creating Bevil here. In other Paul Shih news, make sure to watch this space for an upcoming announcement about our April group show at mph.

Doktor A ToyCon UK Stephan LePodd Pin

Tuesday, March 19th, 2013

doktora

Doktor A, whose work was showcased in his solo show A Postcard from New Yorkshire, at mph last October, is releasing a new pin badge of his very popular character, Stephan Lepodd. The pin, created in the style of Dok A’s Mechtorian pin badges, will be available at ToyCon UK in London on April 6. Limited to 100 pieces, the pin is polished and partly enamel filled, to give it a vintage look. Each comes on a backing card and measures 1″ across. If there are any remaining pieces after the con, they’ll be up on the artist’s web store. We’re big supporters of Doktor A’s work and are happy to see this limited release at an affordable £5. According to Doktor A, fans should expect to see four colorways of this pin released over the coming months.

Gary Ham Wooper Looper Necklace

Wednesday, March 13th, 2013

Gary Ham has collaborated with Ink It Labs to put his Wooper Looper character on a necklace! Gary needs no introduction, since we’ve featured his toys here quite a bit but you might not be as familiar with Ink It Labs. Based in Austin, TX, Ink it Labs is a small web-based manufacturer that specializes in printing, engraving and laser cutting artists’ characters and designs onto acylic, wood and paper. No word yet on the release date of these but it looks like it might be soon!

Jeremyville x Threadless

Tuesday, September 11th, 2012

Jeremyville has been posting his Community Service Announcements to his Facebook page since 2010. He had no plans for this project, other than simply expressing “something about navigating this life, and about my fears and hopes and dreams”. After some 600 CSA’s, Threadless reached out to Jeremyville to work collaboratively to bring 13 of the CSA designs to tees. The t-shirts will be released on Sept. 19 as part of the Jeremyville ‘Made By’ Collection. As part of the collaboration, there will be a launch party in NYC (date TBA). I’ve followed these fairly regularly and am excited for this release. What are your thoughts?
