Kronk x Pobber Bad Ass Stealth Version

Sunday, September 8th, 2013

I absolutely love the Stealth version of the Bad Ass figure by Kronk x Pobber. We saw the forest version of this figure at SDCC this year at the DKE booth and now we have this new, super stealth version available for you in store at mph and in our online store. The figure stands 9″ and is highly articulated, with 7 articulation points including the wrists, arms and legs. The teeth are not printed flat onto the face, but rather are 3D, which adds to the depth of the figure. Complete with band aids and spikes, this figure’s truly impressive and eye-catching nature will not disappoint. As an amazing added bonus, 1 out of every 6 figures is the Toxic version (see image below). To learn more about Bad Ass, check out this stellar review written on Urban Vinyl Daily.

Take a look below to see how the Bad Ass collaboration between Pobber and Kronk developed.

Misfortune Cat Series 2

Sunday, September 1st, 2013

Ferg’s Misfortune Cat Series 2 is now available for pre-order at mph. Shipping in mid-September, these figures stand at 2.5″ and are the follow up to series 1 which was released last year. The blind boxed series features 16 designs in total, including Chris Ryniak’s reinterpretation, with detached head and missing eyes, a version of the custom that we saw back in 2010 at Munky King’s Reconstructing Misfortune show. As you can see in the images, there are also glow in the dark versions in the series. Available for $9.99 each. Can’t wait to get my hands on these!

Claymation WIP from Paul Shih

Wednesday, January 16th, 2013

Paul Shih, nominated for best self-produced toy (for Sushi Kaiju) in the Designer Toy Awards last year, is creating a claymation with his partner, Amy. Paul recently released images of the claymation in progress, which the couple began working on over the holidays. He’s revealed that the film will give us a glimpse of the concept of his next toy design. If you’re not familiar with Paul’s work, have a look at Bevil, the devilish broccoli. It’s great to see Paul involved in creating a claymation. When I first met him back in New Zealand in 2006, he was creating 3D scenes with his characters and photographing them. This looks like the next step in the process, and I can’t wait to see the results!
