New Moon Artist: Jonathan Bergeron

Happy Monday! Today we’re looking at the artwork of Jonathan Bergeron, a Montreal-based artist in the New Moon 2012 show currently on exhibit at myplasticheart. You may know Bergeron as Johnny Crap, a name he used for many years. Both his oil and ink work bring characters to life with great, realistic-looking details. The “End of the Rat” oil on wood piece in New Moon brings to life the character of the Rat surrounded by flowers to symbolize new beginnings.

“End of the Rat”

What zodiac sign have you chosen to represent? And why?

The Rat because the year of the rat ends the day I was born in 1973.

Tell us a bit about your piece and the process for creating it.

The Rat is a little beat up after a year & sort of scared now that he has reached the end. I decided to use flowers to represent the new beginning.

What is your zodiac sign and do you think it is accurate?

I was born as a Rat but very close to the Ox. I was always confused about it. Never been much of a “believer” anyway.

Thanks, Jonathan!
