Have a sneak peek at “The Magical Panda WZRD” from prolific toy designer, MCA. Often working digitally, MCA has been showing more of an interest in painting as of late, and I am enjoying it. Here is his piece for Rabid, Wild & Docile, utilizing cel-vinyl to really bring out the bold, bright colors he is well-known for. Enjoy this sneak peek and a mini-interview with MCA and then come to the opening this Friday, February 24th to see the completed painting!
Where did the idea for this piece or pieces come from?
I believe Pandas hold mystical powers that we as humans have yet to see….
What is appealing to you about bears that make them appear in your work?
I have always enjoyed bears, esp cartoon bears – The Hair Bear Bunch, Yogi & Boo Boo, Humphrey, Joonyer & Icee Bear (although I liked Slush Puppies better) – so even though I may be best know for my Evil Ape, when I get the chance, I enjoy drawing bears. They are a great subject because they hold that same mix of lovable, goofy, cute & yet super dangerous that primates do.
