ArtUp: Bringing Art to LES

Yesterday, I talked about the MaNY project, and today I wanted to bring your attention to ArtUp, a community art program under FABNYC that has worked in collaboration with MaNY. ArtUp is focusing on bringing public artwork to the Lower East Side, with four art locations, it is quickly gaining speed in the art community. These locales include scaffolding on E. 4th St. between Bowery & Second Ave, the Fab Cafe (just across from the scaffolding), nearby construction containers (mentioned in yesterday’s post) and Artists’ Alley at Extra Place behind the former CBGB’s. Artist’s Alley recently saw the work of Abe Lincoln Jr., Jon Burgerman and Ellis G. for the inaugural public art exhibit, Groundbreak, which will rotate regularly.
