I took a trip to New Bedford, MA this past weekend to check out the Stuck-Up traveling exhibition based on the book of the same name. There were a lot of familiar artists’ work lining the walls, and it reminded me how many people who participated in the early sticker trade have gone on to become big in the toy and pop pluralism world as well.
This type of exhibition brings up thoughts about branding in artwork and branding through repetition. I am always intrigued by the repetition of a symbol or character or phrase, to build recognition and eventually familiarity. If you could come up with one thing to represent you, what would it be? For me, my “Team Sweet” name has morphed my associated identity into a cupcake!
